Workforce Solutions of Central Texas Celebrated as Winner of 2023 Workforce Excellence Award by TEDC

CENTRAL TEXAS, Texas – For its exceptional work through its Career Skills Program, Workforce Solutions of Central Texas has been chosen as the recipient of the prestigious 2023 Workforce Excellence Award in the Workforce Board category by the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC).

“This remarkable achievement is a testament to our unwavering commitment and success in implementing exceptional workforce initiatives within our region,” said Susan Kamas, Executive Director of Workforce Solutions of Central Texas.

The Workforce Excellence Award program organized by TEDC honors those who have made outstanding contributions in the field of workforce development.

“We are incredibly proud to be recognized as the winner in the highly competitive Workforce Board category, which recognizes the exemplary efforts of organizations dedicated to shaping a skilled and thriving workforce,” Kamas added.

A panel of experts from the TEDC’s Workforce Development Committee evaluated and scored the applications from numerous nominees based on various criteria, including innovativeness, transferability, community commitment and leverage, measured objectives, and secondary benefits.

Alongside Workforce Solutions of Central Texas, the TEDC unveiled a total of seven winners across different population categories, with fifteen nominees receiving well-deserved recognition for their remarkable workforce projects.

The Workforce Boards category also saw deserving recognition from Alamo/Capital/Rural Capital Areas, Coastal Bend, Greater Dallas, and Lower Rio Grande Valley.

This recognition motivates us to continue pushing boundaries and creating a skilled, adaptable, and prosperous workforce in Central Texas,” said Cynthia Hernandez, Executive Director at Belton Economic Development Corporation, and Board Member for Workforce Solutions of Central Texas.

The 2023 Workforce Excellence Award recipients are:

Population (Less than 15,000): Tomball Economic Development Corporation

Population (15,001 to 40,000): Seguin Economic Development Corporation

Population (40,001 to 100,000): Weslaco Economic Development Corporation

Population (100,001 to 250,000): San Angelo Chamber of Commerce

Population (250,001 and Above): Lubbock Economic Development Alliance

Regional: New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation and Seguin Economic Development Corporation
