Training & Education Resources

The workplace is evolving and you will have to continually invest in updating your skills and training in order to succeed in your career. If lack of funding is an issue, we’ll review your information and help you figure out how to use our programs to pay for the training or education you need to meet your education and career goals.

Adult Education & Literacy

The Adult Education & Literacy (AEL) program provides learning opportunities for adults to advance to postsecondary education, training, or employment

WSCT partners with Central Texas College and Temple College to provide classes to residents of Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, Milam, San Saba, and Mills counties. Instructors assist adult learners with earning high school equivalency, learning English, and acquiring the skills to succeed in the workforce.

Education & Training Grant Programs

One of our main goals is to increase the skillset of the Central Texas labor force. Because of this, grant programs focus on degree and certification programs in high-demand occupations of the region. To be considered for assistance, we must verify you are eligible and conduct testing to evaluate your ability to successfully complete the program of study. A criminal background check may be required for some programs, including medical and truck driving.

National Dislocated Worker's Grant

Under WIOA , Workforce Solutions of Central Texas, which serves the Fort Hood Army base, was awarded additional funding from the Department of Labor to serve military community members, including civilian contractors, affected by reductions in force resulting from changes in national defense priorities. Transitioning service members, retirees, and those laid off from civilian jobs on Ft. Hood may be eligible.

Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA)

WIOA is federal legislation that is designed to strengthen and improve our nation’s public workforce system and help get Americans, including youth and those with significant barriers to employment, into high-quality jobs and careers, and help employers hire and retain skilled workers.

WIOA provides funding to eligible adults, dislocated workers, and youth.

Trade Adjustment Act (TAA)

Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) for workers is a federally funded program, with no costs to employers, that helps workers who are adversely affected by foreign imports or job shifts to a foreign country. Assistance is provided to eligible workers in the form of reemployment services, training, job search, relocation, and support benefits in the form of Trade Readjustment Allowances (TRA) and/or Alternative/Reemployment Trade Adjustment Assistance (ATAA/RTAA) for older workers.
