Career Exploration and guidance

Planning for a new, different, or better career can feel overwhelming. The more you know about your skills and preferences, the more prepared you are to search for jobs that are a good fit, write resumes, present yourself to potential employers in interviews, and find the career that best suits you.

When you visit one of our Career Centers, our Workforce Specialists will help you learn about various occupations available in the Central Texas region that fit with your unique career preferences, skills, interests, and values. We provide current Labor Market Information to allow you to research in-demand occupations, salaries, career options, required education, and training/skill levels.

Skills Development

Workforce Solutions of Central Texas offers free online courses for individuals who would like to learn how to look for a job, interview and network, become more financially literate, or use their skills and experience in a new and different way.

Work Experience

Paid Internships and On-The-Job Training Will Put You on the Fast Track. Are you between 18 and 24 years old and looking for real-world job experience?

Workforce Solutions of Central Texas can place you in a paid internship or on-the-job training for up to 26 weeks. Contact your local Workforce Center and ask about subsidized work programs. One of our friendly and professional Workforce Specialists is ready to help you get started on a rewarding career!

Career Training and Work Readiness

Our staff can help you find funds for college, assist you with occupational and soft skills training, and assist you in getting your high school equivalency.

Apprenticeship Program

Apprenticeship combines paid on-the-job training under the supervision of experienced journey workers with related classroom instruction. Most registered apprenticeship training programs last from three to five years as determined by industry standards.

The Apprenticeship program serves employers and job seekers by training workers for well-paying jobs with promising futures. Apprentices are full-time, paid employees who earn while they learn. There are hundreds of apprenticeable occupations.
