Workforce Solutions of Central Texas Celebrates Local Achievements at 36th Annual Torch Awards
Killeen, Texas – Workforce Solutions of Central Texas is proud to announce the 36th Annual Torch Awards Luncheon, an event dedicated to recognizing and celebrating outstanding individuals, businesses, and organizations that have made a meaningful impact in Central Texas. The Torch Awards, set for Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will welcome hundreds of community leaders, supporters, and advocates from across the state.
The past year has seen Workforce Solutions of Central Texas further strengthen its commitment to empowering the Central Texas community, serving more than 118,694 customers and collaborating with 9,654 employers. The organization has delivered more than 200,000 employment and training services to job seekers and offered crucial child care services to an average of 3,927 children, aiding working families throughout the region. By focusing on the unique needs of out-of-school youth, Workforce Solutions successfully connected hundreds of young adults with valuable work experiences and educational opportunities, providing them with pathways to success.
This year’s Torch Awards will honor excellence across multiple categories, spotlighting the profound contributions of Central Texas individuals and businesses. Among the awards to be presented:
- Workforce Achievement Award – This award will recognize individuals who have shown unwavering commitment to skill development, job acquisition, and retention. Each recipient has overcome unique challenges to achieve career success, embodying the values of resilience and dedication.
- Business of the Year Awards – Three organizations will be recognized for their exceptional partnership with Workforce Solutions of Central Texas: First Heroes National Bank, Revol Greens, and Sunbelt Solomon Services, LLC. Each of these businesses has exemplified a commitment to hiring veterans, training individuals with disabilities, and providing competitive wages and comprehensive benefits, setting a high standard for community engagement.
The highlight of this year’s Torch Awards Luncheon will be the presentation of the Patriot Award, given to an individual who has shown extraordinary leadership and dedication to serving veterans in the community. This year’s recipient, Bob Gear, has made a lasting impact through his work, championing the needs and support of veterans and their families.
