Hiring Event Represents Proactive Approach to Addressing Workforce Shortage in Central Texas

BELTON, Texas – As graduation season approaches, Workforce Solutions of Central Texas, in partnership with Central Texas Regional Pathways Council, is proud to host the Graduate Pathways Hiring Event, a regional hiring event for graduating high school and college seniors.

Business and industry leaders are currently grappling with a talent shortage in Central Texas, where the demand for well-trained workers exceeds the available supply. The hiring event aims to connect graduating students with job opportunities in industries experiencing significant growth over the next five to 10 years.

These industries include Elementary and Secondary Schools, General Medical and Surgical Hospitals, and Computer Systems Design and Related Services. Through research and collaboration with employers and workforce data, the specific occupations that are critical for meeting the demands of these industries are: Software Developers, Elementary School Teachers and Registered Nurses.

“What sets these occupations apart is their ability to provide wages well above a living wage. With hourly earnings exceeding $15.13 per hour, which is the living wage for a single adult without children in Central Texas – these occupations offer promising career pathways for graduates seeking economic stability and growth opportunities,” said Charley Ayres, Director of Industry and Education Partnerships at Workforce Solutions of Central Texas.

Students are encouraged to bring a copy of their resume and to dress professionally for possible on-site interviews with employers.
