H-E-B Donates $10,000 to Support “Wrenches to Wheels” for Killeen ISD Students from the Fort Hood Community
KILLEEN, Texas — Workforce Solutions of Central Texas is excited to announce its next Wrenches to Wheels event, taking place on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Audie Murphy Middle School on Fort Hood. This initiative is being made possible in part by a generous $10,000 donation from H-E-B, which will help cover the cost of bike kits and tools for 60 pre-selected Killeen ISD middle school students from the Fort Hood community. Each student will build and take home their very own bicycle.
Wrenches to Wheels is a hands-on program that pairs students with local mentors and industry professionals to guide them through the process of assembling their bikes. The initiative promotes practical skills, teamwork, problem-solving, and introduces students to career pathways in technical fields. In addition to building bikes, each student will receive a helmet provided by Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Medical Center, which will also provide a bicycle safety demonstration to ensure students understand how to ride safely.
“At Workforce Solutions, we believe the best way to prepare students for future careers is to give them hands-on experiences now,” said Dr. Linda Angel, CEO of Workforce Solutions of Central Texas. “Thanks to H-E-B’s incredible support and the continued partnership of Baylor Scott & White, we’re able to provide students with more than just a bike, they’re gaining skills, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment.”
“For over 120 years, H-E-B has contributed to worthy causes throughout Texas and Mexico, and we continue to support our community as strongly as ever,” said an H-E-B spokesperson.
