Adult Education & Literacy

Workforce Solutions of Central Texas partners with Central Texas College and Temple College to provide AEL services to residents in Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, Milam, San Saba, & Mills counties. Instructors provide English language, math, reading, writing, & workforce training instruction to assist adult students with earning a high school equivalency, acquiring the skills needed to succeed in the workforce, or entering & succeeding in college or workforce training.


Program Information

Classes are held at multiple locations in Central Texas and are offered at different times to accommodate your work and family needs. Most classes meet two days a week and last three hours per session. All Adult Education programs are free of charge and books and materials are provided for use in the classroom.

The first step in the Adult Education Program is to take an assessment, which helps us understand your educational/English speaking abilities. It is not a pass/fail exam. After completing the assessment, your scores will be reviewed to determine which class is best for you.

High School Equivalency Program

The High School Equivalency (HSE) Preparation program (formerly known as GED) provides individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully take either of the HSE exams. Classes are offered year-round at Temple College, Central Texas College, and various locations throughout the Central Texas area. Students must first take an assessment and then attend classes. They must meet minimum time requirements and will work with an instructor to adequately prepare them to pass the HSE test. For more information contact us or click below:

English as a Second Language Classes

ESL for Adults is a program for adults learning English as a Second Language to improve their English communication skills with help from instructors. Classes focus on language skills, depending on each student’s English abilities, interests, and needs. The ESL program focuses on conversational English, grammar, reading, listening, comprehension, writing, and vocabulary. Classes are not for college credit.
