The Central Texas Workforce Board was established in 1996 by Texas Governor George W. Bush.

Because of our exemplary leadership in workforce & economic development, the organization rapidly grew in numbers and impact. Funding for workplace development initiatives in Central Texas has increased significantly because of our persistent advocacy. Today, Workforce Solutions of Central Texas partners with community non-profits, city and county offices, chambers of commerce, businesses, colleges and universities of the region committed to building economic success in Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, Milam, San Saba, and Mills counties.

Our success rests on the knowledge and adaptability of our workforce. Closing the "Skills Gap" is the key.

We are committed to our customer’s success, from career exploration to assistance earning degrees and certifications and into finding employment and building a sustainable career. Everyone has a stake in our crucial goals:

-To promote the career development of those we serve in the community.
-To improve access to and the quality of post-secondary educational opportunities.
-To meet the needs of business, industry, and government through the development
and sharing of resources, information, and expertise.

our mission

WFSCTx’s mission is to provide quality education, training, and labor market services that give employers and residents of the region a competitive advantage in the global economy.

“Creating futures by bringing people and jobs together”

our values

The Board’s core values of Customer-focus, Accountability, Quality, Teamwork, and Integrity serve as the foundation for and guide the work of the Board.

Respect for the dignity of each unique individual and maintaining accountability in the execution of programs and services are our guiding principles.

How do we connect Talent with Opportunity?

We offer career planning guidance and advice for improving your job search, training and education opportunities with the resources, insights and financial support to make it all possible.

Our goal is to empower job-seekers, including veterans, youth, dislocated workers, and people with disabilities in the most meaningful way: by helping them develop professionally.

Some will discover new career possibilities utilizing our programs, others will find jobs through our job-matching website workintexas.com, and others will find success face-to-face with employers at our hiring events.

Workforce Solutions of Central Texas Board

The Workforce Solutions of Central Texas (WFSCTx) Board works in partnership with chief elected officials to coordinate and leverage local workforce policy. We are one of 28 local Workforce Solutions Boards located throughout the state.

Texas House Bill 1863, along with provisions of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998, established the WFSCTx Board to oversee the integration of more than twenty separate employment and training programs in our area under a single policy-making body.

In 2014, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) updated Federal programs, making them even more responsive to community needs.

A report by the Comptroller’s office in 1995 provided the principles that serve as the cornerstone of workforce development boards:
  • Driven by Business and Industry and Labor
  • Universally Available
  • Locally Designed
  • Responsive to Customers’ Needs
  • Accountable
